OUR STORY
We rise by lifting others through creating events that inspire, cultivate connection and serve our community.
We are Mamas for a Cause.
Our movement began in 2016 when a group of 8 new mamas were seeking community and connection on this wild journey of motherhood. Together, we created a holiday potluck and gift exchange for us and our littles. The following year that number tripled. That’s when we knew we were onto something.
As our small event grew exponentially, we ran into a couple of logistical issues. We had far too much wine left over and multiple unfinished conversations from having to chase our tiny humans around all night. We decided that we needed to switch things up. The next year we left the kids at home, got all glammed up in our fancy ‘fur’ attire and ditched the gift exchange. Instead of spending money on presents, we donated to a local nonprofit that we were collectively passionate about. This is how “Mamas for a Cause” was born.
We had so much positive vibration around what we were creating that we decided to expand our reach to all women. We knew that we were stronger together and that we had to continue this good work. In 2018 we hosted our first annual fundraising dinner with 60+ women raising over $4,000. Our 2020 event hosted 100 guests, raising almost $9,000.
We hit pause during the pandemic and are beyond thrilled to announce that in 2022 with 200 guests we were able to more than triple our goal, raising over $67,000!
We were absolutely blown away by the ongoing need for connection and support from women in our community. Mamas for a Cause knew it was time to take our events to the next level and continue to grow this movement. In the Fall of 2022 we officially became our own 501(c)3!
We could not believe that a small mama networking potluck would one day become an official nonprofit. Mamas for a Cause is so proud to have increased awareness of the needs of our community, to have raised thousands of dollars to impact and help the lives of those in need and most importantly, that it would bring together so many women who were seeking connection. Our hope is that Mamas for a Cause inspires women in our community to be the change that they want to see.
